Number 31

A little last minute decision took me to possibly one of the coolest places I've ever stayed in Dublin...

My Monday was jam packed with meetings and work in the city... and you know what? Getting up at 5am to drive to Dublin didn't really appeal to me, so I hopped on to my laptop to look for a place to stay, clicked around for awhile and somehow stumbled across the quirky boutique guesthouse that is Number 31.

Honestly, I couldn't have found somewhere as cool as this with a better location (it's literally a 5 minute walk from St Stephen's Green). From the sunken lounge in the mews to the cosy bedrooms in the renovated Georgian town house, Number 31 is the perfect mixture of modern aesthetics and classic glamour. The staff are super welcoming (hello, you're offered complimentary tea and cookies on arrival to enjoy by the fire) and really can't do enough for you. To get to my room I was escorted through the courtyard (which I imagine is gorgeous in the Summer) through to the Georgian house where I was staying. Everywhere you turn there are rich textures, ambient lighting (the most fabulous chandeliers) and luxe furnishings throwing you back in time to an old style glam. My room looked out on to the other townhouses on Fitzwilliam Place - pretty cool when you throw open the curtains in the morning (which was a task and a half when I didn't want to budge from the most comfortable bed in the world - yes, I thought about trying to steal the duvet and pillows. It wasn't happening. Haha). To round off my stay, I wolfed down some cereal and a mushroom frittata at breakfast (so yummy) and went on my way.

It was a short but sweet stay and I couldn't recommend the place enough - the staff, the location, the decor and the general vibe is on point. It's definitely a hidden gem of Dublin.

Make sure to check it out: Number 31

Happiest of Valentines Days Lovelies!

Although I won't be doing anything too spectacular today (I'm working!), I thought it'd be nice to put together a little makeup look for the day that's in it. I haven't worn winged liner or red lipstick in months, so I decided to throw them both into one makeup look - they're a match made in heaven.

I hope this gives you a little inspiration if you're stuck for something for this evening. It's pretty classic but perfect for a date or a night out with the girls! I'll pop a little product list at the bottom of the post if you're wondering what I've used.

Have a fantastic weekend whether you're celebrating with a loved one or your pals or sitting eating a box of macarons like I'll be doing with my other half. Haha.

XO, G.

Gilet.

You know when people say, 'She must have got dressed in the dark.' Well funny enough, this morning I did. My old pals at the ESB decided to turn off the electricity for maintenance work which left me in a bit of a pickle when it came to pulling an outfit - thank god for the torch on iPhones. Needless to say I spent the majority of the day trying to connect to every wifi hotspot I could find.

If there's one thing I love it's having something that can automatically turn a pretty 'meh?!' outfit into something just a little more interesting. You know what that something is for me at the minute? This gorgeous ombre gilet - it practically rolls style and comfort all into one piece (yes, it's super cosy). I love the fact that it's not as structured as most gilets - for me that makes it a little extra luxe. This was one piece I knew I could rely on to give my outfit a bit of an umph this morning. I layered mine over a River Island leather-look jacket that I've literally had forever and paired it with my new laser cut white tee from VADA:K.

I'm off to get some bits and pieces together for work this weekend! Hope you're all having a good week.

Oh, and I'd love to know your opinion on gilets - love 'em or hate 'em?
Let me know in the comments!

Waterworks

Black, black and more black - and throw in some grey for good measure. It may officially be the beginning of Spring but it's still ridiculously cold in this corner of the planet, therefore I am in no way ready to open the more colourful side of my closet (the little part of it that exists - haha) just yet.

Yesterday was all about staying warm & stylish at the same time. I'm all over statement coats at the minute and this textured coat is amazing example of my little obsession - throw it on over some great  wardrobe basics and you immediately amp up your look. I paired mine with some leather look trousers and a fab two-toned tee. While the shorter sleeve is one of my favourite features of the coat, I'm not ready just yet to bare my arms in this weather, so I threw on my favourite pair of long gloves from N. Peal. I topped the whole look off with this adorable beanie to give it a more laid back vibe.

Hope you're all having a great week! I'm currently wrapped up at home trying to get through some work. Has it snowed where you are yet?

4 Things From January

This Cup: I never ever thought I'd turn out to be one of those people who obsesses over cups - yet here I am with a very large collection of cups taking up the kitchen cupboard. This is one of my favourites at the minute. As I'm also one of those people that obsesses over tea, the little quote sums up my life in general.

Honey Love' Lipstick: If you've seen any of my selfies on Instagram or Facebook lately, this is most likely what I've been wearing. It's such a lovely cross between grey, nude & blush. My makeup has taken a turn down minimal avenue this past month and I have to admit I'm loving it. I've been ditching liner and embracing a softer eye and bold / defined lip.

Paris: Need I say more. Paris is one of my favourite places in the world. This month, my boyfriend and I treated ourselves to a little weekend break away (you can catch up on all the snaps over on my Instagram account) and it was perfect. I love Paris at any time of the year but there's something about Paris in the Winter that gets me. It might be freekin' freezing at times but walking down the Seine - tea and crepe in hand - taking in the stunning architecture, discovering the cutest cafes and embracing the Parisian vibe is something I'll never get sick of.

Camel Coats: Camel coats are so so so perfect for Winter. I managed to nab this one from Zara (outfit post here) just before it sold out and believe me, it hasn't had much closet time this month. You can literally throw it on with next to anything and it automatically add's an air of chic to your look. The fact that it feels like a huge blanket is a plus too!

Hope you have a great & productive week. I'm currently sat on the floor of my sitting room trying to avoid the strongest beams of sunlight in the entire world that are turning the room into a sauna, but such is life. Haha.

Make sure to let me know in the comments what you've been loving this month!

XO, G.
